Check usage in GitHub first
GitHub's usage instructions explain where your plan shows AI credits. Individual accounts can use Billing and licensing → AI usage; organization users can check Copilot settings → Usage. In VS Code, the Copilot status-bar icon also opens usage information.
Track GitHub Copilot in UsageAtlas
- Download the free UsageAtlas app for Windows, macOS, or Linux.
- Open Settings → Sources, find GitHub Copilot, and expand Connect. Enter a Copilot-authorized GitHub OAuth token.
- Choose Save and check, then open Limits. Review the reported premium, chat, or completion allowances and any seat-credit counter. Available fields depend on your account.
UsageAtlas is open source and needs no UsageAtlas account for local tracking. Saved provider credentials use your operating system's encrypted storage and stay out of cloud saves.
Use a token with Copilot access
A generic fine-grained personal access token may not work. UsageAtlas currently accepts an existing Copilot-authorized token; it does not offer a Copilot device-login flow. You can also start the app with COPILOT_GITHUB_TOKEN set. A connection error means the account could not be checked, not that its usage is zero.
What this integration tracks
This connection reads current allowances and balances. It does not import per-request tokens, models, projects, or cost history. UsageAtlas shows a capacity meter only when the provider supplies enough information. A missing limit is unknown, not zero. See the connection documentation for supported fields.
Questions, answered
Why do I see credits used without a percentage?
Some Copilot accounts report consumption without an allowance. UsageAtlas keeps the used counter and leaves the percentage unknown.
Does this track Copilot token history?
No. This integration reads current account quotas and credit counters, not a per-request token ledger.
