Are Costco prices higher online? They can be: Costco's own member conditions say online prices may exceed warehouse prices, and its help center explains that Costco.com prices take shipping and handling into account. The gap is not fixed, though, so if you buy from both channels, the practical answer is to track the online price of the items you care about with a page monitor like AyeWatch and compare it with the shelf.
Why the two prices differ
Costco's pages, checked in November 2026, point to four causes.
| Reason | What Costco says | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Shipping and handling | Costco.com prices take into account shipping and handling fees that warehouse purchases do not carry | Price match help page |
| Warehouse-only promotions | Some promotions run only in warehouses, so online pricing can differ | "Are warehouse and online prices the same?" |
| Nonmember surcharge | Nonmembers can buy certain items online but pay 5% more than members | Member Privileges and Conditions |
| Location | Pricing may vary in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Costco Business Centers and online | Savings pages |
The same help article also points out that not everything on Costco.com is in your local warehouse, and the reverse is true too. Sometimes there is simply no second price to compare.
The rule that matters after you buy
Costco has a 30-day price match for members who are not resellers: if the price of something you bought drops within 30 days, you can ask for the difference. But it keeps the channels apart. Costco says it does not price match warehouse prices for Costco.com purchases. If you ordered online and later see the item cheaper on a warehouse shelf, that does not count. A drop on the Costco.com page itself does.
So the online price is the one worth tracking for online orders, and the warehouse price is what you see in the store.
Track the Costco.com price like a developer would
If you already route alerts into Slack or Discord at work, the same pattern fits shopping.
- Pick the product page. Open it in a private window first. If the price shows without signing in, it can be watched. Member-only items need a signed-in account, so they cannot.
- Add it to AyeWatch as a webpage monitor. Describe the condition in plain English, for example "alert me if the price changes" or "alert me below $1,200".
- Send the alert where you look. Push and the in-app feed come with every plan. Paid plans add email, Slack, Discord, webhooks and a REST API that can create, list, update and delete topics and sends signed
topic.updatewebhook events with AI-written summaries. - Do something with it. A webhook into a small script can log each change to a sheet, which gives you your own record of what the item cost when.
AyeWatch does not keep a price chart for you, and it only reads public pages. It reports the change; logging and claiming are up to you.
When you do not need a tool
If you shop mostly in the warehouse, Costco's Member-Only Warehouse Savings page lists the current warehouse deals with their valid dates, which as of early November 2026 run from Oct. 19 to Nov. 15. Checking that once per cycle may be enough. A monitor earns its keep for bigger online purchases, where a drop inside 30 days is worth claiming.
AyeWatch has a free preview with no credit card. Paid plans start at $9 a month as of November 2026, billed in monitoring credits.
